No Time to Die trailer: the grand finale for Daniel Craig’s James Bond
James Bond returns one more time — and it might be the time to die. Or maybe it’s time to retire? The new trailer for No Time to Die doesn’t make that entirely clear, but what seems evident is that the 25th installment of the Bond franchise is Daniel Craig’s last take on Agent 007. The film, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (True Detective), pays off what really started with Casino Royale way back in 2006. Will Bond go out in flames or gracefully hand off the moniker to Captain Marvel’s Lashana Lynch? As we learn in the trailer, her character also carries the license to kill.
After retiring from that hardcore secret agent life, James Bond has retired to Jamaica. But where Bond goes, trouble follows and an old friend turns up asking for help. The No Time to Die trailer keeps the plot murky, but introduces Rami Malek as a villain who 007 claims is “playing god.” Never good.
Returning to the cast are Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q, Rory Kinnear as Bill Tanner, Jeffrey Wright as CIA officer Felix Leiter, and Lea Seydoux, who returns as her Spectre character Dr. Madeleine Swann, daughter of the mysterious Mr. White character. And the trailer packs a big surprise: the return of Christoph Waltz as the notorious Blofeld, back in a Hannibal Lecter-like capacity.
No Time to Die hits theaters on April 3, 2020, in the U.K. and April 8, 2020, in the U.S.
